Why we rebuilt the chart stack

Professional traders live inside their charts. When overlays lag behind orders, panning stutters with multiple tabs open, or a resize leaves the candle pane blank until you refresh the browser, trust in the platform erodes fast.

Obermind Pro Charts v2 is a ground-up evolution of our charting layer, released in Obermind Platform 4.8.1. It powers the Terminal, Instrument pages, and embedded trading workflows — with sharper performance, richer configuration, and visuals that stay aligned with how your desk actually trades.

Built for live trading, not just charting

V2 connects the chart to your live portfolio state:

• Working orders appear as draggable price lines where supported — adjust limits and stops visually, with validation against the current book.
• Open positions show entry levels with quantity and unrealised P&L context on the axis.
• Overlays wait until historical bars are loaded before drawing, so lines land on real prices instead of vanishing on an empty pane.

Multiple Terminal tabs no longer multiply hidden data subscriptions. Orders and positions flow through centralised stores, so cached tabs stay responsive without duplicating hub listeners.

Faster rendering and smoother history

Under the hood, Pro Charts v2 is tuned for long sessions and deep history:

• Scroll left to load older bars without breaking layout or stalling pan and zoom.
• Tooltip and legend spacing adapts when order strips or drawing tools are open, so OHLC readouts stay readable beside live trading controls.
• Price-scale typography is sized for dense professional layouts — indicator last values, last-price pills, and trade labels stay legible without crowding the axis.

Settings, templates, and defaults that scale across tabs

The gear icon opens a unified Chart settings workspace. Three segments cover how configuration flows across your desk:

This chart

Everything tied to the active Terminal tab — period, chart type, indicators, grid, news markers, and more. Changes save per tab so each instrument keeps its own setup.

General

House defaults for new tabs. Set your standard indicator stack, grid, and style once; every fresh chart opens from the same baseline without overwriting tabs you already configured.

Templates

Named snapshots — built-in starting points plus your own saved layouts — that push a full configuration to the active tab in one step. Useful when desks rotate symbols but share a common analytics stack.

Changes preview in an isolated panel before you apply them to the live chart. Cancel restores the last saved state — no accidental layout experiments on a live book.

Drawings, news, and context on the candle pane

• Drawing tools — Fibonacci, waves, rectangles, and the rest persist per tab; hide/show with the eye toggle without losing geometry.
• News markers — headline chips anchored to candles, with clustering when many stories land on the same bar; select a story to drive the crosshair and read the body inline.

Performance and reliability wins you will feel

V2 targeted the papercuts power users reported:

• Pan and zoom on news-heavy charts no longer stutter — layout work is coalesced per frame.
• Position updates refresh label text without tearing down every overlay on each tick.
• Inactive Terminal tabs keep real layout dimensions (no more squashed volume panes when you switch back).
• Mobile Instrument layout keeps the chart at full height when you hop between Chart and Trade tabs.
• Screenshots now capture the full chart — indicators, axes, drawings, watermarks, and profile overlays — not just the inner candle canvas.
• Area chart animation runs a short pulse on new ticks instead of an always-on loop, cutting idle CPU use across many tabs.

Terminal and Instrument parity

Whether you trade from the multi-tab Terminal or a single Instrument view, you get the same Pro Charts v2 feature set: trade context menus, interval and chart-type flyouts, viewport zoom controls, and session-aware behaviour after reconnect.

Instrument pages on narrow screens use a fixed-height chart stack so rotating tabs does not zero out the chart container — a common cause of collapsed indicator panes on phones and small tablets.

What is next in the charting line

Pro Charts v2 is the foundation for deeper analytics on the same surface. The headline addition in the 4.8.x line is Time/Price Profile charting — Market Profile-style TPO matrices with POC, value area, and initial balance guides, plus in-product help that explains how to read them.
